How did Mama’s with Brown Sons begin?
I am a mother of 3 amazing brown sons! Between March of 2020 and June of 2020, 5 murders took place that should have never occured. Manuel Ellis, Daniel Prude, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Rahsard Brooks to name a few. I realized that at any point in time, THIS could happen to one of my brown sons. The trauma, anxiety, depression, isolation, anger that these murders created for me, I knew I had to have a place to release that energy into a positive way. MWBS was birthed in November of 2020. A place where racially diverse moms, dads or caretakers of brown sons or daughters can share their fears, stories, meet others, ask questions and gain support!
